Marie V. deMontbrun and Maingot connection

I have been gathering family information for my husband, R.J. Gurth, who is the grandson of Marie V. deMontbrun and George L. Maingot. He is the son of Odette Maingot and just celebrated his 84th birthday. I have been in touch with Paul dela Bastide but cannot seem to connect with any direct family members. In going through Odette's box of "things" found pictures and two letters from Vincente (Monty) de Montbrun with whom she apparently kept in touch after leaving Trinidad for the U.S.

Halloween

Well it seems that my boy really isn't sure of this whole Halloween thing. Most of the costumes we look at 'are too mean looking'. He doesn't want to be a knight, even though the guy in the picture is smilling. He doesn't want to be BatMan, Spiderman, the Hulk (the Hulk is pretty angry-looking), but the pumpkin costume is 'for...for...' I fill in 'little kids'. Amelia fills in, 'for wimps'. Either way, he will not be a pumpkin. He wants to be a fairy. And no one wants that...

Family

I'm interested in meeting new "family" members with the same surname, no matter how it is spelled.

WRITING...

Sorry I have not been writing as often as I usually do - the August-September period is sometimes used for my family vacations. I am now in Canada attending a celebration in honor of my youngest brother's upcoming wedding. I will resume writing upon my return next week.

We've changed hosting companies.

Hopefully, you won't notice that anything has changed (except that we have a faster connection and more reliable host). If anything is amiss, please let me know.

Consider this a test post to ensure that everything is working. :-)

Biographies of Pedro Luis & Carmen Luisa de Montbrun

Learnt some exciting news today even though I have no idea as yet how on earth we are going to get any benefit from it. There exists biographies written about brother and sister, Dr. Pedro Luis & Carmen Luisa de Montbrun, first son and second daughter of Dr Domingo & Emilia de Montbrun KNT of Trinidad. Dr. Pedro Luis de Montbrun would have been my Great Grandfather.

Carmen Luisa's Biography information is as follows:

Cleaning up!!!

In case you've seen some additional activity (particularly in the Jose Leandro, Jose Emilio & Pedro Luis folders), I've been trying to adjust my chapter numbering system so please bear with me while I try to complete this exercise. What started off as a 'Brief History of the de Montbrun family' is now becoming a significantly large book with many chapters and I have not been able to find some material.

Today in 'de Montbrun' History

Today, February 23, 2008 is the 48th anniversary of the death of Leandro de Montbrun, more popularly known as ‘Landy’ de Montbrun. Landy was the second child of Jose Leandro de Montbrun, Barrister at Law and Josephine (‘Josie’) Laughlin-de Montbrun. For almost 30 years, between 1930 and 1960, at almost every major event, charitable or otherwise throughout the length and breadth of Trinidad, Landy de Montbrun would be featured as Master of Ceremonies or a headlining act.

Today in 'de Montbrun' History

Today, February 21st, 2008 is the 109th anniversary of the death of Barrister Jose Leandro de Montbrun, the youngest child of Dr Domingo de Montbrun, KNT. On February 21, 1899, at the age of 31, Jose Leandro died suddenly in Guira, Venezuela of Tubercolosis, just 10 months after the birth of his first son Jose Emilio de Montbrun (grandfather to many of the Canadian line of the de Montbrun family). He had gone to Venezuela hoping that the change of air would improve his condition, together with his wife, Josephine (nee Laughlin), at great risk to herself.
